She’s my private ballet coach. Here’s a little biography about her:
Dr. Kathleen Tenniswood’s teaching career spans more than 50 years at public and private schools, colleges and universities, and major dance organizations in the U.S. and Canada. She has developed curricula for dance courses in those arenas, and her historical research has been used in a video documentary, several magazine articles, and by dance scholars. Dr. Tenniswood has choreographed in a wide range of styles for regional ballet companies, American College Dance Festivals, community theater, and public and private school productions. She is in demand as a coach, examiner and lecturer in the Cecchetti Method of Classical Ballet training. Dr. Tenniswood is currently the only person to hold both an earned Ph.D. in Dance and Related Arts and the Maestro Cecchetti Diploma.
But there’s something that most people don’t know about Dr. Tenniswood.
She’s an AMAZING cook! Seriously.
This ballerina will never become a starving artist while under her watchful eye. I just finished eating the last of the Chicken Tortilla Soup she made, from scratch, and sent home with me – just because she had left overs…. and it was Oh. So. Good!
Today is one of those days that I actually wouldn’t have eaten much because my nerves are still rattled and I don’t have much energy and I just don’t care and so I would have just eaten a piece of frui for breakfast, a small sandwich for lunch and then picked at dinner…. but instead…. there was the soup – already made and waiting to be gobbled up. And I was so thankful for it.
Dr. T….you’re the best! I’m already counting down to Christmas break when Hannah and Claire and I get to come over and help you make cookies!!!
