I love this photo. It’s totally blurry and out of focus – but I was photographing from the very back of the room. This is Serene (Campbell) Allison singing one of her songs, while she has, attached to her, her little baby that she adopted from Liberia. I believe she is singing a song about being the mother that God created her to be. Before she started singing she made a comment about not being very professional. I disagree.

The last time I saw something like this was when I was working at a fund raiser for the Mother’s Milk Bank in Austin and Shawn Colvin was headlining the fundraiser and she got up on stage to perform, but her daughter didn’t want to be seperated from her – so she just hauled her daughter up on stage too. It was precious. I have a lot of respect for Moms who don’t push their children aside while they fulfill their own desires.

Serene, this is as professional as it gets. Anything less is sub-standard. Posted by Picasa
