I’m so NOT ready for a 5k. It’s really a good thing that everything fell through last weekend! Now that we’ve decided not to sell the house, and will be working to get things back to normal – training has taken a front seat. If I can follow a basic training program, I should be ready to run a 5k in about 3 months.
Running outdoors on a track is SO different than running on a treadmill. The treadmill sets the pace for you – you can kind of sit back and chill out and not think much about what you are doing. Running on the track – it’s all up to YOU! It’s a little harder. I didn’t time myself tonight, but thought I did fairly well, all things considered.
We took all the kids to the track tonight. They actually ran a LOT. I was impressed. I think I am going to enter the kids in the 22nd Annual Kids’ Zoo Run in September. That will be fun! There’s also an 8-mile, 4 person relay the night before the Kids’ Run – if I can find 3 other runners to pair up with – that would be fun. You run a relay through Brackenridge Park!
I’ve started a training blog as a place for me to log my daily progress, events, goals, etc – if you are a blog addict and want to watch my “success”, here’s the link: http://mytrainingblog.blogspot.com/
It has a real catchy title.
