The Walston Newberry Preschool has reached full capacity. One new student will be enrolling by the end of summer, but after that, the Preschool division will be closed, pending renovation. We have capped our enrollment – and are unsure if even a total renovation will create enough room for any more students. In the meantime, please go ahead and send a $15,000 non-refundable tuition deposit.

James, Emma, Claire, Hannah and Amory playing at Orsinger Park in San Antonio. It’s good to have family close by finally. Thanks, Mandy, for meeting us at the park on such short notice today! The kids had a great time and I did too!

Hannah mastered the pole slide thing. She was so proud of herself!!

And here’s James tumbling down the slide. He really enjoyed this one slide. He spent quite a bit of time on it!

And my favorite photo of all!! The boys buried Alaina in the sandbox! Too funny!

Orsinger Park was really very beautiful and I loved all the different playgrounds. It’s off of Heubner and Lockhill-Selma. We will definitely be going back! Be sure to get there early to avoid the school groups though. This park is DIRECTLY across the street from the Vulcan plant. On Tuesday, after the field trip, Teresa and I were going to take the kids to the park to play for a while. Well, we did get to the park, but about 10 minutes later the park was flooded with school children on a field trip. I have a personal pet peeve about public school kids invading the public parks during school hours. They already have adequate playground equipment at their schools – why do they get to load up on a bus and come invade the public play areas during school hours – all in the name of a “field trip”?? It really annoys me because it makes it impossible for anyone else to enjoy whatever park the school kids have taken over. And they do literally take it over. Even the teachers are very wary of anyone else playing on the PUBLIC playgrounds when their school kids are inhabiting the space. It’s annoying.

Anyway, I was relieved when Teresa made a comment along the same lines – at least I know I’m not the only one and it’s not just because I’m a home schooler!!
